Onity Showcases Latest Solutions for Evolving Hospitality Landscape

Mobile access with streamlined check-in, advanced locks and guest-friendly energy management system on display at HITEC

From DirectKey™ mobile access providing guests a seamless journey to their room to all-new OnPortal™ software featuring tablet-based check-in and full access management, Onity continues to deliver technology solutions for hoteliers that delight guests and help build loyalty. Onity, part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), is showcasing its advanced offerings at HITEC, the world’s largest hospitality technology show, June 26-29, in Toronto, Canada.

“Onity is a proven leader in security and access control and is at the forefront of enhancing the guest experience through technology that offers mobile key freedom for hotel guests along with flexibility for hoteliers to scale and customize a cost-effective solution that grows with them,” said Alex Housten, vice president, global security products.

Among the latest advancements by Onity is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution for its DirectKey mobile access system. The updated cloud-based offering provides a variety of implementation options including mobile key integration into hotel brand loyalty apps and an Onity-hosted app with configurable features for independent properties. “Today, hotels must connect with guests in entirely new ways, empowering them to take control of their stay and how they interact with a hotel and its staff,” said Housten.

First released in 2015 for major hotel brands, DirectKey technology has been deployed at thousands of hotel rooms in the U.S. The DirectKey system uses secure key credentialing and Bluetooth® technology to allow hotel guests to download their assigned key to their smartphone for easy access to their guest room and other access-controlled areas.

“With DirectKey SaaS, we’re pleased to extend our industry-leading mobile key solution to more hotel brands and to independent properties,” said Casey Fale, general manager, Onity. “Our system is built on a proven key credentialing platform that has been deployed with UTC technology across an installed base of more than 2.5 million Bluetooth locking devices in multiple industries. This platform, combined with Onity’s three decades of experience in electronic locking systems, delivers a superior solution.”

Also on display at HITEC, Onity’s Trillium® locks feature stylish one and two-piece designs with optional DirectKey module. Properties with existing Onity locks can easily upgrade to Trillium locks without new door cuts. Trillium RFID locks can be configured to work in either MIFARE Classic® or MIFARE Plus® mode, which offers enhanced credential security.

“Locking systems are in integral part of a hotel brand’s mobile strategy and customer loyalty programs. Initially, properties may not be planning to provide mobile access to their guests, but future-proof locks will help them avoid the disruption of an upgrade to enable mobile key access down the road,” said Fale.

Onity also will preview its OnPortal software at HITEC, an all-new solution with tablet-based check-in option and full access management including the ability to issue DirectKey mobile credentials. Available in fall 2017, OnPortal software is designed for large to small properties, supporting front-of-house to back office requirements.

Another guest-friendly offering by Onity is the newest version of its SensorStat® energy management solution, which is designed to maximize energy efficiency without sacrificing comfort. It combines an intelligent guest room thermostat, door/window sensors, and passive infrared (PIR) occupancy detection capability. Designed for a complete range of property sizes, SensorStat can scale from standalone, in-room control to a fully networked solution integrated with building automation systems.

Onity representatives will offer product demonstrations at their booth 1711 at the HITEC show June 26-29.
