Onity Simplifies Path to In-Room Connectivity with Mobile-Centric, Cost-Effective Approach

Solution creates smart guestrooms by leveraging DirectKey™ mobile access, a growing group of technology providers and the expanding SensorStat® product line

Onity, a global leader in electronic locking, access control, and mobile key solutions for the hospitality industry, is simplifying today’s connected room architecture by melding connectivity, door locks, and smart devices into a new, mobile-centric approach for smart hotel rooms.

“As a leader in mobile credentialing, Onity continues to advance its hotel access solutions to offer a simple approach to the future of the connected-guest experience,” said Fayyad Sbaihat, president, Onity and Supra. “We are set to provide an easy, flexible path to in-room connectivity.”

Based on the latest DirectKey™ mobile access system and Trillium® door locks, Onity’s smart guestroom technology easily interfaces with in-room smart devices such as lighting, temperature control, televisions, voice technology and more. The expanding group of industry-leading providers supporting the Onity solution includes Telkonet, LG Electronics, Axxess Industriesand Volara. Offerings from these companies will be featured alongside Onity’s system in booth 1520 at HITEC, the world’s largest hospitality technology show, June 17-20, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

“We recognize that major hotel brands are using smart-room technology to transform the guestroom experience into something more personal, and select-service hotels want a simple solution without a large investment. The payback can be a combination of energy savings, improvement in guest satisfaction and brand loyalty,” said Sbaihat.

To enable an interface with smart devices, the Onity solution leverages built-in Bluetooth® technology that is standard in its DirectKey mobile-enabled locks. The system uses an easily deployed room-management-system (RMS) communications backbone, eliminating the need for an expensive, secondary network. When a guest enters their room, the lock works in conjunction with in-room devices to create a custom experience.

A key component of the smart guestroom is Onity’s SensorStat® energy management solution designed to maximize energy efficiency without sacrificing comfort. SensorStat combines an intelligent guest room thermostat, door/window sensors and passive infrared (PIR) occupancy detection capability – all critical for in-room temperature control. Expanding the line, Onity has added a sleek, stylish touchscreen thermostat featuring an ultra-thin, modern design and user interface.

The Onity solution simplifies the journey for hotel brands seeking full smart-room implementation, now or in the future, and is ideal for select-service hotels that may not have the knowledge or support to setup and maintain a smart guestroom experience.

“Our DirectKey system is built on a proven key credentialing platform that has been deployed across an installed base of more than three million Bluetooth locking devices in multiple industries,” said Sbaihat. “This platform, combined with Onity’s three decades of experience in electronic locking systems, delivers a superior solution.”

Along with its mobile key solutions, Onity continues to deliver technology that not only delights guests, but helps further build hotelier loyalty with its Trillium locks featuring a simple upgrade path, and OnPortal™ software featuring tablet-based check-in and full access management – including the ability to issue DirectKey mobile credentials.
